About Me

As of September 2015 - I am now living in Uppsala, Sweden - and keen to hear about interesting projects.

Previously, I was a lecturer at the Cardiff School of Computer Science and Informatics, taught at the newly-established National Software Academy. We developed a hands-on Software Engineering Degree launched in 2015, taught in the style of a coding camp, with students working on projects for real customers (the BBC reported on us).

And before that, I was a PhD student at Cardiff Metropolitan University and the University of Wales, and hold a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. I'm supervised by Dr. Tom Crick and Dr. Giles Oatley.

My research interests include Natural Language Processing, Data Mining, specially Distributional Similarity, Life-Logging, the Personal Cloud, and the Social Semantic Web. I'm a certified GATE text analyst.

I am also a professional software developer, having worked previously at the startup Loccit (during my PhD studies), and previously for Cosworth / Pi Research. I'm a certified GATE text analyst, and have worked with a large range of technologies on many different projects and platforms. My GitHub page is mostly rubbish code that I did in a rush - most of the good code I've written belongs to someone else!

I'm keen to work with you on commercial project or academic paper (please have a look at my existing publications), especially in my areas of research interest, please get in touch!
